There are far too many moments attempted to take advantage of the nostalgia of the original series without it making any sense. Eureka Seven Ao had the potential to be a great sequel, but ironically its ties to the original series became its biggest crutch. The first thing that I've heard people say is that it tries to be its own thing, while this is somewhat true at first, there are reasons to believe that this is bullshit. They even show theEnd being under the base but that too is never explained Not only that but Eureka came back in Spec2, this is never explained and it frustrates to no end. It then derailed fast and hard and the point I believe this happened is when they start pandering. When it was Ao and his friends doing missions the show was surprisingly well made. The show definitely started strong where it's problem hadn't hit yet.
